Child Obesity: Where Role of Parents?

Chubby child, might be considered cute, but have we ever wondered if that chubby continues into adulthood? Reinforced, non-communicable diseases nowadays of all ages and genders. In fact, it continues rampant in our society. No exaggeration to say that our society is now being formed and provide generation who are obese and sick in the future.

Obese kids now are not foreign in our society, but this scenario is not viewed as a public health problem. In fact, it's become something normal in the eyes of society. The fact is, our society has been aware of the importance of health care, but sometimes the attitudes and habits of a healthy lifestyle traditionally practiced a guide. Thus, it becomes habitual and ultimately infiltrate various problems in his life invites unconscious. Just look at how many of us are healthy, suddenly died of a silent killer? How many is it now the children have been suffering from diabetes since childhood and most unfortunately at school were taking insulin injections as diabetes treatment? Who is to blame?

Basically, nutrition education is shaped by parents, family or person in charge of the children since childhood. All aspects starting from the selection of food, habits, way of eating and type of food is inferred from what is given, designed and illustrated by the parents. Then the external factors which play a role in shaping children's eating habits. If in school, they may be influenced by their friends and the environment that they follow. But at home, family and home environment are important in shaping children's eating patterns.

Every parent wants to see their children grow up healthy and strong. Hence, of course, children are provided with nutritious food . In the early age of growth, nutritional problems a priority in their development. This is because some children may become less attractive and some have excessive appetite for a meal . It is common in early childhood development . Perhaps due to these factors, parents indulge their children by giving all kinds of food in the hope that they get all the nutrition they need . But they failed to control the diet even children tend to consume excessively. Not impossible , the food is also unhealthy and unfit for they will eventually contribute to the obesity problem .

Although genetic or hereditary factors no doubt contributed to the problem of obesity in children , but external sources or the environment can not be ignored . Children tend to be obese when their parents are also obese. Although genetic imbalances cause the individual to overeating but this factor can not be dealt with in our tackle childhood obesity . However , we can see children eating patterns also emulated from parents. Parents who do not have healthy eating habits can cause your child to follow the mold.

In the same time , we can not blame any one food dumping that causes young children to be obese. Culture of the society who prefer high-calorie foods such as nasi lemak, roti canai, teh tarik and other fast food also contributes to the problem of obesity among children. Dietary patterns such an example to the children . However, it will not be the only cause of these problems occur . Therefore , it is not desirable if the trend is to blame when a tree root cause is not corrected . For example , if food like nasi lemak readily available but intake is not controlled , it can also contribute to obesity due to the frequency pegambilannya . The root is the education of the parents who determine their dietary patterns .

In such cases, parents rush resulted in the selection of nutritious foods is limited . Busy parents tend to choose fast food as a meal for the family due to time constraints. Eventually it became a culture in a family. Similarly, environmental influences such as peer groups and the mass media play an important role in contributing to the problem of childhood obesity .

If in school , kids outside the influence and control of their parents , then their peers and environment into their main example in choosing a food. At school , the selection of nutritious foods are also limited and most of the food is not quite balanced , high calorie , high sugar, salt and cholesterol . The existence and availability, snacks and sugary drinks as " vendor machine" in school causes children tend to take excessive sugar . What's more, if the provider of school meals rather sell food rapu or " junk food " is a favorite of children .

Should the non-profit is simply by selling non-nutritious food . This is due to snacks will contribute more calories even cause consumers to be more inclined to take it and limit the intake of other nutritious foods . This scenario often occurs in children , and they are more likely to spend money on daily expenses just to buy junk food than healthy food such as rice dishes and so on . High calorie intake , excessive sugar and salt contribute to the problem of childhood obesity . Perhaps, this kind of problem to be taken seriously by parents , the school and the provider of school meals . Control and monitoring of the supply of snacks and drinks are not good for health to be enhanced but non-nutritious foods should be limited or terminated sale .

Children who are obese tend to be obese as adults are overweight or suffer throughout their lives if not treated and monitored. In addition to a healthy diet plan , the children also have to apply strong physical training . Instead of just spending free time in front of televisions and computers. Parents who have obese children should know that losing weight and maintaining ideal body weight is a difficult thing . Hence , it requires a sound understanding of these issues and emphasize healthy eating habits . Not only applied to children but should be done starting from oneself . Then it has a very strong synergy in providing children with healthy and not obese generation in the future .

In conclusion , we need to adopt the attitude of prevention is better than cure . We need to prevent emerging diseases due to obesity present generation by adopting healthy eating and healthy living culture . It all started from the parent as the main pivot in nutrition education children . In line with the recommendations in chapter ascribes 7 which means " If you do good , ( the interest) is good you do for yourself , and if you do evil, (ye did it) against yourselves ... " . If we do not make sacrifices for the kids these days means we provide unhealthy generation in the future . Come on, Empower parents to assess the role of diet plan healthy children today.
